How do I get to the cottage?

From Toronto:

  • Head North on the ON-404 N past Newmarket

  • Go East on the ON-48 N

  • Turn left onto ON-35 N (signs for Huntsville)

  • Turn right onto Monck Rd/Kawartha Lakes County Rd 45

  • Turn right onto Kawartha Lakes County Rd 121 (signs for County Road 45 E/County Road 121 S)

  •  Continue on Haliburton County Rd 503. Turn right on Contau Lake.

+ Additional notes: Please be careful arriving at night as some of the country roads are not well lit. Winter tires are strongly recommended during the snowy season. The property can easily park 4 cars.

What are the cottage rules?

  • No unregistered guests allowed

  • No smoking or vaping inside The Highlands Cottage or within 8 feet of the entire property

Are additional day/overnight guests allowed?

No, only paying and registered guests are allowed at the cottage.

What time do I need to check in and out?

Check in is after 4PM.

Check out is prior to 11am. We do our best to accommodate late check-outs, so please get in touch with us if you need that. We can only accommodate depending on availability.

Are bedding, towels, and laundry detergent provided?

Bedding, bath towels, and detergent are not provided so please bring your own.

Are pets allowed?

Yes we welcome well-behaved and potty trained dogs/cats to the The Highlands Cottage at an additional flat rate of $50/per pet (maximum of 2 pets).

Will I see wildlife at the cottage?

Yes, however please keep a safe distance and try to avoid feeding wildlife.
